This weekend was not without it’s iDevice related events. Following the Twitters yesterday I excitedly came across the news that the iPad 2 Jailbreak by Comex had been leaked. First, my heart leapt, FINALLY! Then, after about 20 minutes of reading, my heart sank.
The code that was leaked was not final code, and apparently, only code proven to be working on the 4.3 firmware of the wi-fi iPad 2 model. Granted…that’s what I have, and it will work for me, but the bigger picture is quite grim. Because the code is incomplete and buggy, it won’t work for all, and it may not work well for some. Worse, with the code leaked, Apple now knows the exploit and can release a firmware upgrade to close the exploit.
From my continued reading, as I understand it, Comex is still (hopefully) working on the iPad 2 Jailbreak, and now his timeline (deadline?) is dramatically shortened. I won’t link to sites with the leaked jailbreak here because I don’t support or condone what was done. I don’t intend to use it, and I would encourage the Interwebs to make life difficult for the toolbag that leaked the code. If you do want to use it though, a simple search for “iPad 2 Jailbreak leaked” will get you exactly what you want, and hopefully not much more. The waiting game continues.
